EmiCert, the Greece-based verification body and a partner of Emicert V, has received accreditation from the Hellenic Accreditation System (ESYD) to verify embedded emissions under the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Its accreditation certificate is No. 874-9.
The accreditation covers all six sectors currently within the scope of CBAM: cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen. According to the announcement by EmiCert and CTI, EmiCert is the world’s first accredited CBAM verifier.
Why does accredited verification matter?
CBAM entered its definitive regime on 1 January 2026. For producers outside the EU and importers using actual embedded emissions data, reliable calculation, documentation and verification of those data are central to meeting the mechanism’s requirements.
EmiCert’s accreditation enables verification across the full current sectoral scope of CBAM. It builds on the company’s extensive experience in greenhouse gas emissions verification and supports installation operators in preparing emissions data for the European market.
Emicert V works in partnership with EmiCert to connect businesses with CBAM verification expertise. For enquiries about verification of embedded emissions, contact us at office@emicertv.com.
